Content style guide for niceshops
Staying consistent with your content is hard. Especially when there are no guidelines, rules or processes. During my employment at niceshops I created a content style guide so my colleagues and I have rules we can follow.
This guide was created in German.
Take a short peek at the style guide in this video. Keep in mind that a style guide is a working document that needs updates and readjustment once in a while.
Niceshops needed a concise statement that summarizes why they produce content, for whom, and for what. The goal for niceshops was gaining awareness and increasing the amount of highly qualified applicants.
Companies and products benefit from a consistent voice and tone. It's one way to make a brand rememberable. The voice of niceshops was defined as likeable, authentic, humorous, enthusiastic and easy-going.
Some languages have different ways to address a user or customer. Formal or informal? It's up to the company/brand and its values. At niceshops we wanted to represent the easy-going atmosphere and the internal flat hierarchies also externally. So in German we decided use informal language. But beware, in some languages or cultures that's a total no-no. Make sure that you know your target group :)
If you're interest in the whole guide, I'll gladly show it to you! Just let me know :)
